The Jane Torrence Sargent Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King received its Charter on May 22, 1928, at St. Alban's Parish, El Paso, Texas in the Diocese of New Mexico and Southwest Texas. The Chapter was named for the wife of The Very Reverend C. S. Sargent, Vicar of St. Alban's Mission. The new Chapter had eight charter members.
On Sunday, May 25, 2008, we will celebrate our 80th Anniversary with a Reception in the Parish Hall following the 10:30 am service. We invite all members of the congregation to come and help us celebrate this very special occasion.
We are the second oldest active Chapter in the Diocese of the Rio Grande, second only to the Chapter at St. John's Cathedral in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our Chapter now has fifteen members and continues to follow the two Rules of the Order, Prayer and Service. We pray daily for members of the congregation and their families who are ill, or who have special needs or concerns. We are always available to assist our Priest and Parish whenever we are needed.
We meet the second Sunday of every month in the Green Room at 9:00 am and we cordially invite all women of the Parish to visit our meetings and give prayerful consideration to becoming a member of our Chapter.
